This year, the ICT Summit Eurasia Conference and Exhibition was held during 11-13 September 2012 in Istanbul, Turkey for the 12th time with the theme “Next Step”. Designed to transform the far future to the near future, ICT Summit Eurasia brought the regional countries together at the common ground of IT in Turkey. In addition to the leading representatives of political, governmental and business circles in Turkey, the Summit attracted technology and business leaders from the Middle East, the Turkic Republics and Communities, Caucasia and Balkan states.
As one of the most effective and largest “cooperation” summits, ICT Summit Eurasia offers the most important IT collaboration opportunities in the region and has already transformed into a global event where the cultural, technological and business worlds of different countries meet. At this year’s Summit, innovations in strategies and roadmaps for the future, and the way for building effective cooperation in the region were the heavily discussed themes. With expanded content and multiple session tracks, the Summit witnessed participation from 39 different countries and 358 speakers, 5,495 attendees and more than 170 networking meetings.
This year’s event also hosted the “ICT Summit Eurasia Awards” to recognize and award successful cross-border projects that have been implemented by the ICT companies of the region. The main objective of the awards is to create an international platform where:
- Successful projects realized by and through mutual cooperation of the ICT companies of the region are publicly acknowledged, and
- Cross-border collaboration efforts are encouraged.
The jury comprised of business leaders from telecommunications and IT sectors, evaluated the applicants according to project content (R&D, unique features, budget, diligence to timelines, project teams, geographical coverage, targeted number of end users), collaborative efforts and overall project performance.
After all, applicants were evaluated, Telenity’s project “Location-based Social Networking Solution” received first place among 12 finalists. The project included the design, development, delivery, testing and marketing of Location-based Social Networking solution deployed in the GSM networks of the two leading mobile operators in India with a combined subscriber base of 295 million in 22 circles with different dialects. With this project, Telenity stepped into the Managed Services business model, where the software/hardware procurement, installation, maintenance, and support functionalities are fully managed by Telenity.

Canvas Location-based Social Networking Solution provides mobile operators an innovative way to bring mobile social networking to their subscribers.
The solution allows subscribers to build friends lists, locate and track friends, discover interesting places and communicate with their connections through unlimited instant messaging any where, any time regardless of their device type.
For the successful implementation of the project and offering the services to the subscribers as a managed service, Telenity worked together with the mobile operators and collaborated with multiple local digital map providers.
Uniqueness and Key Differentiators of the Solution
It brings social networking capability to millions of Indian subscribers who are using basic/feature phones and those who do not have access to Internet/data plans, as well as subscribers using smartphones.
The project recognizes the communications and socialization needs of millions of Indian subscribers and offers them a cost-effective, easy-to-use solution.
