canvas SMSR
Billions of short messages are being sent worldwide on a daily basis, and operators are looking for innovative ways to enhance their capacities, manage peak times better, and maximize user experience with minimum costs.

Canvas SMSR, Short Message Service (SMS) Router, offers a next generation, cost effective and smooth solution to help wireless operators maximize their short messaging infrastructure by funneling, offloading, and routing existing messaging traffic in the most optimal ways.

The Canvas® brand covers multiple solutions with key components that are optimal for future growth in the evolving next generation networks (3G/IMS). Each Canvas product offers not only a point solution, but also re-usable building blocks that seamlessly integrate with other Canvas products as well as with Telenity partner solutions.

Canvas SMSR is a member of the Canvas Converged Messaging portfolio. It supports features such as SMS offload through First Shot Delivery attempt, dynamic reallocation of SMS traffic to multiple service centers, and offloading short messaging traffic to IP on GSM/GPRS, CDMA/1xRTT, iDEN and 3G networks.

Canvas SMSR is a high performance system processing thousands of messages per second today. It is the ideal choice for operators that want to maximize the return from their investment and increase the market leadership in SMS-based premium data services. Canvas SMSR is designed with unlimited performance and scalability in mind and can be bundled with Canvas SMSC, Short Message Service Center, as well as other Canvas based solutions.

Short Message Offload feature provides First Shot Delivery attempt to deliver the short message to the network directly (without storing). If short message delivery is successful, the existing SMSC(s) are not impacted. The short message is forwarded to the SMSC(s) only if initial delivery attempt is unsuccessful. With this feature, average expectation is more than 50% reduction in SMS traffic loads of existing service center.

Dynamic load balancing and message distribution feature allows both subscriber and application short message loads to be distributed between multiple service centers for load sharing, protection of existing SMSC investment, and allowing new SMSC(s) to be commissioned for redundancy and capacity upgrades.

Seamless and effective migration of services to IP is supported based on the standards of the International Engineering Task Force (IETF) Signaling Transport (SIGTRAN) working group, providing a mechanism to transport SS7 traffic over an IP network.
