

Canvas Intelligent Call Services, Location Based Network Applications, enable network operators and service providers to enhance revenues and reduce operational costs. These services use information about users' location to improve customer service and optimize resource utilization in the network, turning investment in location infrastructure into revenue generation and cost-cutting opportunities.

Canvas Intelligent Call Services are a member of the Canvas Converged Value Added Services portfolio. They offer three major applications that make it possible for operators to turn their investments in location infrastructure into revenue generators and cost savers.
These services are:
- Location Based Charging
- Target Subscriber Notification
- Enhanced Call Routing
Location Based Charging (LBC)
LBC service allows operators to attract new customers and incite increased usage by offering discounts in specific locations. These locations can be home zones, work zones, or even commercial districts.
Users can set their home and/or work zones and receive special discounts when they make and receive calls within that zone. Network operators can combine zone information with time-of-day and day-of-week information to further fine-tune the service offering. In the future, support for different billing rates during the course of a single call may be provided, as well. LBC services are likely to attract new subscribers and improve subscriber loyalty and
usage in the network.
Target Subscriber Notification (TSN)
With LBC, the subscribers need to know on an on-going basis which zone they are in and what billing rates apply when they make and receive calls. Target Subscriber Notification (TSN) service provides this information to the users via SMS, when requested by the user. In the future, TSN may support notification via tones or announcements, as well. TSN is a crucial service in making Location Based Charging a success story.
Enhanced Call Routing
Enhanced Call Routing (ECR) service enables network operators and service providers to increase their revenues by offering new value-added services, and reduce their expenditures by optimizing resource utilization in their networks. With ECR, calls for specific services, such as taxis, can be routed to the nearest provider (e.g. cab company) based on the subscribers' location information.
Similarly, network operators can minimize their operational costs by selecting the lowest-cost route to deliver a call based on the users' location. ECR makes this information available to the core network elements, in order to enable location information to create revenues and/or offer savings for the operators.
